New Shoes

I just thought I'd express my love for my new Payless sandals. They were only 13 bucks and I love them. They come in cuter colors but I wear so much black that I had to buy the boring ones. Seriously though, I love them. More than I should.

May

It's been a busy May. Brandon learned that he and Jake could just relax in the backyard and watch Hayden spray the weeds.
Here are Jake and Dad congratulating each other on their laziness.

Jake gave up bottles and learned to use a straw in addition to the sippy cup. He really, really wanted to know what Hayden was always drinking.

Hayden brought home this awesome plant for my Mother's Day gift.

Jake has grown out of his 12 month pants but 18 month pants are huge. So I solved the problem by getting him "skater pants" from Children's Place. They roll and button at the bottom. The rolling maneuver is supposed to make them a cute capri length, not make them the correct length, but who cares.

Hayden taught Jake how to ride his Harley.

Also this month I hurt my knee, Brandon and Hayden were ill, Jake keeps eating like a machine and Hayden rode his bike to school (with Dad).

I Love My Mother's Day Card

Don't you just love school projects? I love the things Hayden brings home. Here is the front of my card.
His teacher and her helpers had written down the children's responses the these questions about their mothers. I love Hayden's answers.
Number 1 is really yellow, but he told me that pink is a girl color so he guessed I liked it.
Number 2 is true. I love so many shows though-I'd never be able to pick one.
Number 3 is "Princess Bride". I thought it was so cute that he kind of remembered the title.
Number 4 is sad but very, very true
Number 5? Really? Wendy's is his favorite.
Number 6-spot on.
Number 7 makes me happy. I try so hard to freak out whenever he does something well. I'm glad he has noticed.
Let me explain number 8. My child eats very little. He's not a fan of trying new things. Since he does eat so few things, he likes them in a particular way. Bacon is one of his favorite things- but only if it's cooked in the microwave, by me, for 2 minutes (3 pieces).
Number 9! Ha ha haaaaaaa
Number 10. Oh that's my favorite. My poor child only had a couple of options. I'm either wearing my pj's or work uniform. Bless him....
Number 11 is just cute.
Number 12 is funny. I'm like a pharmacy. No hugs or kisses when you're sick. We're all about drugs here.
Number 13 is very true. It's just too bad that I can only play a third of what he plays because I've got a gaming deficiency.
Number 14 makes me smile.
Number 15 helps make all the tantrums, specific food requests, fights about homework and messy bedrooms worth it.

I love you Hayden!!!!!!!

Candy Livesay

Candy Lynn Livesay
1957-2009
Brandon and his mom at our wedding May 1999
Brandon's mom, Candy, passed away suddenly Easter Sunday while visiting her family in Houston, Texas. Hayden and I were able to meet up with Brandon and his mom's family in Houston for her service on Thursday. It's hard to write this. It's taken me a few days to do it. There is a lot to say but I don't know how to say it. She was a wonderful granny. She loved my kids, she loved my husband and she loved me. I'm sorry Jake doesn't get to know her first hand but I'm grateful he has Hayden to tell him all about her. Thank you to all our Texas family for being so generous and kind. We love her and will miss her, and we are grateful for all the happy memories we shared with her.

Jake's Been Around For a Whole Year Now!

Happy Birthday Jake! He's now the ripe old age of 1.

Don't you think he looks a lot like his Auntie Shilo?
The party had presents.......

.....and of course food

One of his new toys

Jake's own personal smash cake

The cake the rest of us got to eat
Don't you love the frosting hand print? It looks very C.S.I.

Jake, seen here in his fourth outfit of the day, had just been hosed down after the cake. He was so tired. I kept him awake for the party.

This year really did go by very fast. We love you Jake! Happy Birthday!

Pillow Mountain

Today Hayden built Pillow Mountain. Hilarity ensued.

Hayden was throwing Jake onto Pillow Mountain but I didn't post one of those shots because they might scare their grandmas.
I haven't seen Jake happier than the last few days of Hayden being off track. He seriously loves his brother (and I'm not just saying that).

I must get off the computer now and rebuild Pillow Mountain. I think I'll be rebuilding Pillow Mountain often.
